Linda and I at the plesWow, i just looked at the last date...it has been a long time since I updated my blog. I do have some photos that I would like to share with everybody...they might be some old ones....All the way back to my birthday...
The lastest....Last Friday was my friend's maturita ples(ball).
Here is a little explaination of what maturita is and what is a maturita ples:
Here in the Czech Republic every senior takes a leaving exam called maturita. They usually take this test in May, it is similiar to a diaploma in America. Every student has to prepare about 25 questions for each topic...for example my friend is taking her maturita in four subjects English, Czech language, History, and Philosphy. She has to prepare for all four subjects.When she takes her test in May, she will have to speak about one question for each subject about 15 minutes. She needs to know a lot of information about each subject. It isn't an easy test.
Before there test they have a ball and to show the graduating class. It is very similiar to (prom senior year) in America. Throughout the night there is entertainment from various different groups, sometimes the class that is graduating or from people outside the school. Every student also gets a sash that says 'maturita 2008' on it. After the crowning of the sash,teachers make a toast to the graduating class.
